Aerosol is Suspension of Solid Particles and Liquid Droplets either Natural (Fog) or anthropogenic (Smoke, Smog (Smoke+Fog), Haze).
Smog in Winter
It is primarily associated with particulate matter in air coupled with temperature inversion during winter.
Smog in Summer
It is primarily associated with the photochemical formation of ozone.
- Primary Pollutants (NO, NO2 and VOCs)
- Secondary Pollutants (tropospheric ozone, peroxylacyl nitrates, aldehydes)
Stratosphere OZONE ~ Good Ozone
Troposphere OZONE ~ Bad Ozone ( tropospheric ozone is created by chemical reactions between oxides of nitrogen (NOx gases) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The combination of these chemicals in the presence of sunlight form ozone)

Smoke
Smoke is produced by incomplete combustion of hydrocarbon and consist of chemicals, acids, and carbon dust. Soot is a very fine black particulate matter carbonaceous substance (0.25 µm in size) which binds to walls and fabric.
Fuels with H/C ratios higher than saturated hydrocarbons produce sootier flames.
